BIGs (Brief Instructional Guides) (Series)

With time at a premium, teachers need concise books that offer research-based overviews of the skills that they need to know and how to implement them in the classroom. Brief Instructional Guides (BIGs) are written by practicing teachers and scholars to provide resources for professional development.

BIGs serve the purpose of engaging teachers at various stages in their professional, pedagogical development with new pedagogical theories and teaching methods. They present the latest research while remaining accessible in terms of language and approach. BIGs also offer practical activities, examples, and guides to implementing the latest teaching research in the classroom, course design, curriculum design, and lesson planning. Current topics for published BIGs range from looking at unique student populations and helping to integrate their needs into the classroom to a brief guide on using the flipped learning method in ESL courses.
