What is an ISBN?
An ISBN is a numerical code given to a book that uniquely identifies it. Up until recently, the ISBN contained 10-digits.
As of January 1, 2007, the book industry began using a 13-digit ISBN to identify all books. The 13-digit ISBN is different from the original 10-digit ISBN only in that a 978 prefix has been added and the last digit in the code, known as the check digit, has changed.
On the UMP website, you can search on either a 10-digit or a 13-digit ISBN. You may also search on ISBNs either using the hyphens or not.
