The Univesity of Michigan Press is committed to diversity Current OpportunitiesTitle: Media Manager Duties: Develop, monitor, and modify, as necessary, UM Press's approach in key trade marketing areas in response to changing demands in the market and in delivery methods. Research, conceptualize, plan, execute, and supervise publicity and marketing campaigns for new and backlist trade books. Oversee and supervise the trade marketing staff (Catalog and Ad Coordinator, Web Manager, and Publicity Coordinator), including the recruitment, hiring, evaluating, promoting, and firing. Develop and maintain media contact with key trade book reviewers and electronic and print correspondents in local, regional, and national media markets. Develop and maintain the trade bound-galley mailings, including having galleys bound, writing cover letter, and selecting media. Develop and execute Web-based publicity campaigns. Supervise the expansion and maintenance of publicity databases, including the selection and purchase of media resources. Plan and execute author tours, including arranging media interviews and author travel arrangements. Plan and execute press conferences, publication parties, and other publicity events. Maintain contact with authors regarding marketing plans, travel, and reviews. Collaborate with academic marketing staff, sales via the marketing plan process and follow-up meetings; meet with acquisitions, production, business office and warehouse to ensure timely information and coordination of activities. Establish annual departmental budget and allocation for trade marketing department overhead and key promotional activities. Approve and process trade marketing invoices and reports on costs. Title: Copywriter/Advertising Coordinator Duties: The University of Michigan Press is seeking a Copywriter/Advertising Coordinator who will write and edit copy for all trade titles and prepare and produce twice yearly seasonal catalogs; manage and coordinate all marketing copy for Press database; prepare, write, edit, and coordinate copy for various adverts, brochures, fliers, posters, order forms and other promotional materials; and prepare, write, and edit copy for trade book jackets and covers, press releases, and press materials.
